How not to let your boss read your private blogs

“Who has a thumb drive?”

I wish I didn’t raise my hand and absentmindedly reached out for my thumb drive beside me. I wish I wasn’t too mapagbigay. I wish I wasn’t too engrossed with work (i.e. reading CNN, Tumblr, FB posts, Blogspot updates, or Twitter). I really wish I wasn’t so stupid that moment. So off it went to my colleague, who lent it to my publisher so he could use and abuse it.

Yesterday, as I was taking my drive back, after days of lending them for free to my boss, who is now extending his stay in Pinas for some reason, I suddenly realized that the drafts to some of my blog posts were there. That the reason why I have Blogspot and Tumblr, a public and a private blog, and private posts in my already private blog, has been violated, I hopelessly asked him to hand it back.

“Yeah, it had blog posts in it.”

Perfect. Just perfect. He has found them. But I was still hoping he was honorable enough not to read them.
“I particularly liked the one about washing the dishes. It’s funny.”

I wanted to make a scene, hold on to a chair, press my hand to my chest and exaggeratingly breathe in and out to add to the effect. What else did he read? Did he read something about him? Did he read the one about me eating too many bananas in a day? Well, I have no posts about those, especially about him, but I was scanning my mind for possible posts that I may have saved there.

And pictures! Was there any picture that got in there somewhere? I remember Ms. Lni sending out one of his old photos to everyone in the office which made us all laugh so hard, no work was done for the next thirty minutes.

He still could not let go as he kept on mentioning stuff as we rode the elevator down the ground floor. I wanted to wring his neck, trip him over, grab his hair, but thought better of it. He was too big, and if not for his PXXXXX which he showers my bank account every month, I would have committed a crime in that cramped elevator.

I can’t wait to see him again today, as I wonder what other new stuff he learned from me. Just how powerful, truly powerful that thumb drive is right now.
